Vapefly Jester – Review

Hello dear reader, today I present you my review of the Vapefly Jester rebuildable Pod.

Disclaimer: This product was kindly sent to me for the purpose of this review from Fasttech.
Thanks Fasttech for supporting the reddit community by providing the product for the Review!!

That will in no form influence my opinion or the outcome of this review. As always, I’ll give you nothing but my honest thoughts. Also, these are my opinions, please do form your own from all the info you can get elsewhere too.

This is going to be a fun one but a long one too, I was waiting for my first rebuildable Pod for a long time now!

Package Contents:
· Jester Pod
· 1x 0.5Ω Mesh Coil Pod
· 1x Rebuildable Pod
· Micro-USB Cable
· 2 Coils (labeled! 1Ω 28g Kanthal)
· Vapefly Firebolt Cotton
· Goodie Bag with T-tool, replacement gaskets, o-rings and screws.
· Manual

Appearance:
The Jester is another Pen Style Pod system, top load for the Pods, rounded shape and comes in various prints. The prints are very 80’s style and are probably a love it or hate it thing. I got the eponymous Jester print which is some cross between the Joker and the Green Goblin. As the Jester pretty much vanishes in my hand I couldn’t care less about the print, also there are plain black and silver versions available. The Surface is rubberized which gives a nice grip and the fire button sits flush so the risk of pocket-firing is minimal even when turned on.

Thoughts/Experience:
5 Clicks on the fire button turn the Jester on, thankfully they went with this method over draw-activation which makes it that much better. I’ll spare you my rant about draw-activated devices this time. Three clicks to cycle through the three power modes, or two if you use the mesh pod. Purple is 3.3V, Blue is 3.8V and the green mode that’s only available for the DIY Pod is running at 4.8V. The 1000mAh battery charges from zero to full in about 45mins which is good in my book. The Pods are held in place by a lock and there are two buttons on the sides to press to release. This works beautifully and holds the pods in place at all times.

The Pods

Mesh Pod: The 0.5Ω Mesh Coil Pod performs well, I like the draw which is a rather restricted DTL, I had no problems with wicking after only 5 minutes of letting it soak up the juice. It was clever by vapefly to locj the 4.8V mode for this pod, as it would probably burn the cotton really fast, you get a really warm vape using the 3.8V setting. Flavor is good on the mesh pod, not out of this world but I could easily vape this all day and did not feel cheated for flavor afterwards. No problems with chain-vaping either, other than that you have to refill the pod soon, which is a bit of a hassle with the hinged top cap on the mesh pod. You have to take it out of the jester to open it comfortably, while you’re at it, also pull out the gasket completely so the air can escape while filling it up. 10ml’s of really sweet glazed donut juice in, the flavor is falling off a little but still wicking great. Overall a nice job except for the hinge design.

tl;dr: Mesh pod is good, coil life is ok, filling is a hassle.

RDTPod:
This is what I was waiting for, a rebuildable pod that I can tune to my liking. Before I start the praise, lets get the cons out of the way. You have to plan or know your builds because unlike the pasito, the jester has no 510 adapter so you have to build on the Jester itself. My second and last con is totally on me, I would have liked a hair more airflow or just a slightly bigger hole in the mouthpiece.

Can we start the praise now please? Ok, you asked for it.
Vapefly calls this the DIY Pod, I call it the RDTPod. The moment I looked at the deck I was reminded of good old RDTA’s that have kinda zoned out of the mainstream vape industry. Thinking about it, it makes perfect sense for a pod system to use this system. Installing the coil is a breeze, I bent the coil leads around the generously sized screws and had no problems at all. I chose the lowest power level to pulse the coil which also worked well. Not nearly as frustrating as some MTL RTA’s tbh, damn good job Vapefly.

My first build used the included 1Ω 28g Kanthal Coil, Vapefly also packed a fat wad of firebolt cotton that should last for a solid three months of rebuilding this. There is a small hole in the deck for air to come in so you can stuff the juice channels completely. That’s exactly what I did, I used a rather big strip and raked it out so it’s nice and fluffy. Perfomance with this coil is good, I really like it on the 3.8V power level, it’s a comfortably warm vape. Warmer than most pod systems I tried yet. Good doesn’t sound like praise does it?

Well that is because the coil Vapefly included isn’t bad, but it’s an insult to the capability of the Jester itself. After two days of sweet Juice I had to change the wick and decided to try something else, to make use of the 4.8V power level that was too hot for me with the included coil. I built the Jester with a VV Superfine MTL Fused Clapton NI80 32ga*2+38ga 1.2 Ω. This was one of the better decisions of my life if I may hyperbole.

Holy fucking shit, a pod system has entered the City Hall of Flavor Town!!!! I was blown away, to say the least, poppy, warm and a really good resolution, dense. Soo, I tell you flavor great but why should you believe me?

Well, you just fucking should this one time. I’m normally rotating between King Hadeon, Mjölnir the destroyer of o-rings and the Nudge 24 which are all flavor bangers imho. And the only time I didn’t use the Jester in the last days was when it was charging. It does support pass-through, I just don’t like to use a vape while it’s plugged in.

I put four of my favorite juices through the Jester by now and let me tell you, it’s restricted for a DTL vaper, but easily the best vape I got out of a pod system so far. Warm flavourful dense vapor, not Dpro mini density level but close to it. If you want a little more airflow like me, build the coil a tad higher, that helps. I also read u/pizzadave80’s Review, thankfully I never had a problem with the deck flooding or leaking. In fact, it hasn’t leaked a single drop and I’m positive that I could juggle with the Jester without it leaking, might be the build, or maybe dave got a faulty unit.

Photo Album with Build

Pros:
· Mesh pods good flavor and coil life
· 3 Power Modes
· Good flavor on the Mesh coil after break-in
· Wife likes it (but she won’t get this one)
· 1000mAh Battery
· Insane flavor with MTL fused Clapton in the RDTPod

Cons:
· You have to know your builds and build on the Jester· I would have loved a tiny bit more airflow (subjective)

Summary:
The Jester is my new King of Pod systems, all cons I could find are negligible because the performance is just too good to complain about miniscule things. The Mesh Pod performs well for people who don’t like to build. Battery life is good and the finish is grippy and the overall size is nice too. If you read some of my reviews you know I’m not one to praise lightly, but Vapefly impressed me by really nailing the Jester. I’ll certainly keep using it and for a pod system, I’d rate this a 9/10 easily.

Thanks again to Fasttech for sponsoring the Jester for this Review. If you’re interested in the Jester you can find it there under SKU 9700353 for just shy of 26$ with the code MAP for the black DIY Edition, the others are in the dropdown, you know the drill. If you’re also interested in the coils I used, those are SKU 9665659.

If I forgot anything don’t hesitate to ask, I’m always open for constructive criticism. Thank you for reading and have a wonderful day! See you next time when another product gets tested by time and, me, ofc.

I quit cigarettes in 2016 thanks to vaping, after smoking 1.5 packs a day for 17 years. Since then, my health has improved tremendously. I have also built a solid collection of mods and atomizers. Now that I feel informed enough to review something, I want to give back something useful to this community that gave me so much valuable information when I started out. I’m going to review everything from a non- professional user standpoint. There is enough shilling out there. Unless stated otherwise, I bought most of my reviewed products so I’m not going to let anything but the test of time and ease of use determine the outcome of my review. I’ll give you my honest thoughts, whether you like them or not. Also, English is not my native language so I apologize for any jibberish.

Bohr Flask Pod System – Review

Hello dear reader, today I present you my review of the Bohr Flask refillable Pod System.

This product was sent to me for the purpose of this review from Bohr Vape, that will in no form influence my opinion or the outcome of this review. I used the Bohr Flask as long as I could, and will give you my honest opinion about whether or not it has a place in the ever-growing sea of pod systems. This is my first review of a pod system, so I don’t have a lot to compare it to, but I’ll do my best.

Also, these are my opinions, please do form your own from all the info you can get elsewhere too.

Package Contents:

· Bohr Flask

· 1x Reusable Pod

· 1x 1.2ohm ceramic MTL Coil

· 1x 0.4ohm Mesh DTL Coil

· USB Cable

18650 for scale

Appearance:

As the name already suggests, the Bohr Flask does indeed look like a small Flask, I got the black version and it’s also available in silver. The body is made out of brushed aluminum with a black plastic part above the screen with the BOHR Logo on it. The O-led Screen is screen and fire button at the same time, which is something I haven’t seen before. It’s also bright enough to read in bright sunlight without a problem, which is important since pod systems are mostly for on the go, at least for me. On the left side you find the adjustment button which inevitably reminds me of the volume adjustment buttons on smartphones. The Plastic pod holds 2ml’s of liquid and has a fairly large fill hole closed by the usual rubber plug. The liquid goes up and around in the hollowed mouthpiece of the pod which makes it easy to see your liquid level in the first half of the pod, after that you have to remove the pod to check. The coils are placed in the middle and liquid flows into them from the sides. You’ll find photos of the packaging and some products pictures in the Album if you are interested. I’m too lazy to write about a cardboard box.

Thoughts/Experience:

The Bohr Vape website claims the Flask to be the “first intelligent Vape Pod System”, also “The Flask uses the SAGA Player chip which origins from the smartphone industry for Intelligent vape control.”

The usual protections including an auto off for the pod system are on board too. Thankfully the smartphone thing has not led to any Bluetooth or voice activation shenanigans. That could very well have happened, Bohr was in the smartphone industry before they started making vapes according to the company info.

Three clicks on the screenbutton buttonscreen cycle through the different modes which are essentially just one… Power Mode with different parameters on the screen. Wattage, Voltage or Amperage are shown depending on the mode, the first two also name the respective modes. The Amperage mode is called “play”, Amperage would have been too long for the menu layout is my guess. You can go up to 20 watts, 4.20 Volts or 7 Amps with the DTL Coil installed.  The screen shows either of the power parameters, the active Mode and Coil resistance. Overall a lot of adjustment possibilities for a pod system, thumbs up for that.

The battery lives up to the 1150mah claim, I only had to charge it once after the initial charge which is impressive for such a small device imo. After using the Flask for a full day, there were some drops of liquid under the pod but nothing too crazy, still worth mentioning. It’s probably better to keep it upright and not flying around in a bag.

Usage/Vape:

MTL: I tried the MTL Coil first because I knew I won’t like it, but that’s not on the pod system. I tend to vape airy, C4, Hadeon and a lot of Dual Coilers are usually my go-to’s. On certain days I like a very restricted lung hit but that’s about it. Sooo, surprise surprise, I didn’t like it, but I know how MTL should taste and that’s the part where I was severely underwhelmed by the ceramic coil. I normally DIY my juice, I went as far as using severely overflavored store bought juice, which was just the right amount of flavor with this coil. I used  50/50 and 60/40 PG/VG juice and the wicking kept up just fine at 8 watts, 9 is the highest you should go. Thankfully they printed recommended wattage on the coils, which is always good! Coil life is also good on this one, I already put around 12mls through it and it hasn’t changed so I think it could still go.

DTL: Muuuuch better… So much better! The Mesh Coil is where it’s at for me, I used the same juices and the flavor was honestly… astonishing. As I mentioned before, I can’t really compare it to a pod system right now but if you know the DPRO Mini RDA, you know the draw. Fairly restricted lung hit and very dense vapor, which is something I’m not used to from mesh in general. Flavor wise, I have nothing to complain really, nearly DPRO Mini level, a slight bit more diluted maybe. The lifespan was more of a problem and I think this is due to the choice of going with 0.4ohm coil, the wicking just couldn’t keep up even at only 12 Watts, the coil was done when I was done with my third filling. 6ml are gone fast with a 0.4ohm mesh coil. There was only one coil of each included so I cannot say for certain if every coil is like this, also I can only review what was sent to me.

Pros:

  • Looks sleek
  • Good Battery Life
  • Adjustable Wattage + Modes
  • Very good flavor on the Mesh coil
  • O-led Screen doubles as fire button
  • Wife likes it (that may not be a pro for you)
  • MTL Coil life is ok

Cons:

  • Slight pod leaks
  • Ceramic Coil flavor was lacking
  • Mesh coil life was too short

Summary:

For a new vape company, this is not a bad start at all if you ask me. The MTL Coil wasn’t my cup of tea and It’s a shame the coil gave in so early and there’s still lots of room for improvement.  The flavor of the DTL Coil already had my wife tell me to order some coils for the Flask. So, I guess we’ll continue using it in DTL Mode, if anything of interest surfaces over time, I’ll update this post! My recommendation to Bohrvape would be to maybe use a 0.6 or 0.8 mesh coil for the DTL option, 0.4 seems a little low for the amount of air.

Would I buy the Bohr Flask? If the DTL Coils get an update or in case I just had bad luck with it, yes.

That’s about it Folks, if you made it this far, thanks for reading and thanks again to Bohr Vape for sending me the Flask Pod System.

Underground Styled BF Mechanical Squonk – Review

Hello dear reader, today I present my review of the Underground styled Mechanical Squonk.

I bought this mod in April 2018 because my wife wanted it. I know I know I know… this is device is a clone. But hear me out, I was on the hunt for an authentic one for a long time, the authentic is made by MCM Mods who most “high-end” interested people will know by now. They are located on the Phillipines and still operational as far as I know. The Underground Squonk is out of stock in their shop with a banner that says “Restocking soon” (I added the ). *Tinfoil hat theory*: MCM is in one way or the other affiliated with Blizzard, because the first time I looked at this banner stating “soon!” was in 2017.

Bottom Line: I gave in and bought it for her and I’m getting ahead of myself but, oh boy am I glad I did.

Underground Styled 18650/20700 BF Squonk Mechanical Box Mod

Product living conditions: Most of my mods and attys get used and abused extensively, if they last longer than a year, it’s already impressive. My wife as well as my closest friends, whom I proudly converted from smoking, have permission to use most of my stuff. Which sometimes results in dead mods and beat up devices. We also have a “community vape cemetery” kind of thing going. I hate obsolete stuff so I think it may be worth to look for older gear, that is cheaper by now, if one knows if it’s worth it. I’ll do my best to give you my unbiased opinion.

Again, I want to highlight a product, that still works after being used for over a year.

This time around and still alive, the Underground styled* Mechanical Squonk

dat Bling

!!This is a fully mechanical mod without any protections, be sure to know your ohm’s law and battery safety!! I don’t recommend a total beginner to start out with mech mods, I didn’t because I like my hands and face where they are. Please be safe people!

Package Contents:

· The Mod itself

· Silicone Squonk Bottle

· Minimalistic Battery Adapter

Appearance:

Loads of gold. The Underground Squonk is made out of (in my case white) POM and Brass, which I both like very much material wise. POM is my undisputedly favorite Drip Tip Material, I’m fairly uneducated about plastics so I don’t really know why, I just love the feel of it, it also doesn’t get as hot as others do in my experience. The brass is lacquered to prevent tarnish, so no rough polish for this one or the clear coat will wear off and the brass will begin to tarnish, which we don’t want for this mod, at all. The Brass on the original one is polished, at least on the sides and top and is shiny af, but it is also a fingerprint magnet. For the price of this mod, I’m very happy about the fact that there even is a clear coat.

This is a really interesting design, the top fill battery cap inevitably reminds me of the Pico series we all know and love, the similarities end right there though. As stated above, this one is fully mechanical and the fire Button is located at the top, which is a nice touch, me likey. The way you hold it you’re going to be squonking with your middle or ring finger which Is not the most comfortable if you have big hands like me, but it’s certainly not bad. Even the button follows the gold theme, the actuator itself is made out of ultem. A lot of rough edges appear when you look at it, the squonk “door” is extremely well designed and follows the overall theme which is lines and corners. It’s held on by 4 tiny magnets on each side, it snaps into place and holds well, the magnets could be better though. The appearance of the mod is, for a clone this cheap is ok, there are a few machining marks on the brass, but it is what is is. The lid of the squonk bottle is just a tiny bit visible under the door, it didn’t bother me or the wife so bad to switch to another bottle though.

There is a small gap between the squonk door and the top body, which is the biggest visual flaw, you can see it in the photos.

Thoughts/Experience:

The rough edges are… surprisingly comfortable to hold and don’t get in the way of the user experience. The Underground has some weight to it but it’s not too bad and with this con comes one of the biggest pros, the Underground Squonk, although designed a few years ago, is 20/21700 and 18650 battery compatible. No need for interventions there Jeff.

The battery cap that is also the fire button is a neat design, it has ridges, which are the only thing from preventing me from screaming out loud when opening it. I’m overreacting, but I’ve had more comfortable battery caps to unscrew. Due to the contact design at the bottom, which is a flattened dimple, the battery should go in positive side up, it works the other way around but it makes me uncomfortable because I fear the positive plate of the battery will get warped. There are venting slots so big that you can see the battery. Bonus matchy matchy points for a golden wrapped 40T? Thanks you Vapcell.

This button is the true beauty of this mod, asides from all aesthetics. Inside the battery cap is an Ultem disc epoxied(?) to a stainless-steel ring with a bit of Delrin in between which is good to prevent heat issues. This top part is mounted on a big ass spring which one can shorten a little to fix the “long ass throw” if it bothers him. The bottom plate of the button is SS too and the whole thing is held together by a threaded Delrin part. Due to the design of the connection, arcing is virtually impossible, which prevents the marks we all hate and saves on cleaning time. I love it! It was a little crunchy at first but cleaning all the button parts and the threads of the Delrin part with a soft steel-brush got rid of that. It’s buttery smooth and springy and has been for a long time.

Switch Parts

The top plate has an o-ring around the, not spring loaded, 510 to prevent leaking into the Mod which is nice too. It fits up to 25mm Atomizers and should be used with at least a 24mm to not look silly imo, but this is entirely subjective ofc.

Damages:

Scratches on the bottom of the squonk door from a drop onto concrete

Repairs:

None Thankfully

Usage: My extremely in-depth scientific testing (me vaping…) could … this time, detect a small bit of voltage drop, but nothing out of the ordinary. Not OG Pulse levels of energy loss but if you vape dual coil and have a few hard hitters it’s noticeable, but nothing that building ever so slightly lower couldn’t fix. The Squonk bottle is on the squishier side but the juice doesn’t shoot out violently out of the top. It’s good quality silicone and the most important, completely odorless. The looks may not be everybody’s cup of tea but I kind of like it. The one thing I don’t like is that I got robbed by my own wife. I didn’t think ahead and get her a perfect matchy RDA (yes, shame on me) so she took my brass Goon 25, and since that day, I only ever see it if it needs to be rebuilt.

Pros:

  • 21700’s
  • Beautiful
  • Arcless Button Design

Cons:

  • Big for a single battery squonker
  • 510 not spring loaded
  • Rough machining on some parts
  • Clone

Photo Dump

Summary:

The Underground BF is built like a tank and really offers a lot of aesthetics for the money spent, if you like it aesthetically and can live with adjusting the 510 there is not much negative to say about this one.

This clone was a good buy, I admire the button design and the wife loves the bling factor. I will keep my eyes open for an authentic one, although not the white version then, but at a 250-300$ price point for the authentic I’m happy to say that this clone succeeded to excite me enough to search for the authentic one even more.

Authentic Vaporesso PodStick 900mAh Pod System Starter Kit
Vaporesso PodStick 900mAh Pod System Starter Kit

Appearance:

This thing is seriously tiny, it can vanish in my hand without a problem. It’s a pen styled pod and a good looking one. Vaporesso was so kind to send me the full black version, the backlit fire button and the Vaporesso Podstick branding are in a gold or brass tone. 5 LEDs show the battery level. The Pod sits at the top and is a fixed unit with the coil, which come in two versions, more on that later. The USB charging port is in the bottom plate and besides the Vaporesso “V” on the back of the PodStick theres not much going on visually. No 80’s prints on this one like on some pods, thanks Vaporesso. They even went as far as giving you a shiny silver micro-usb cable so this is definitely made to look elegant, I would have preferred a longer one instead but who cares really. It comes in six different colors so there should be something for every preference.

Thoughts/Experience:

5 Clicks on the fire button turn the Podstick on, thankfully they went with this method over draw-activation which can lead to so many unwanted scenarios. The 5 clicks prevent accidental turning on which makes the PodStick even more portable. You can’t go drive a motorcycle with a draw-activated pod system for example, the wind will activate it and at best it just burns out the coil then. Three clicks to cycle through the three power modes. The backlight of the fire button shows the three modes in green, blue and red, green being the highest output. The button is nicy and clicky albeit tiny and did never not react in the time that I used it.

Pods:

The pods are opened with a press and slide system which works well enough, the pods are disposable so no need to worry about that wearing out. The PTF system which I suppose means push to fill works as long as you don’t pour loads of liquid at once. The included 10ml fill bottle has a stiff tip to make mess free filling even easier and I got to give it to them, it just works.

MTL: I tried the MTL Pod first because, as always with MTL, it’s just not my jam so I like to get that out of the way first. The 1.3 Ω CCELL Coil works beautifully and was more enjoyable than I first anticipated. Flavor is ok for MTL I suppose, not kayfun level but enjoyable at least.

It also has no problems keeping up when chain vaping which I pretty much do all the time with MTL devices. I used  50/50 and 60/40 PG/VG juice with 10mg salt nic and the coil is still good after 15ml so that’s a nice performance imo.

DTL: The 0.6Ω mesh Pod and I had a rather bad start, I filled the pod with my usual 2mg juice and waited half an hour to give the cotton time to saturate. I figured, since the coil is so small and this is mesh, the cotton has to be packed insanely tight in there. I was right, I started out on the second power level and while it had no problems with wicking, there just wasn’t a lot of flavor. I upped the power level and it did improve things a little, but not enough yet. The culprit here is the tight packed cotton. Once you have vaped through two of the 2ml pods it gets significantly better. And it kept on getting better with the next 2 refills to a point where you wouldn’t think it’s the same coil.

I already vaped about 30ml through the mesh coil and flavor is starting to decline slowly now. That is frigging impressive and reminds me of the old Kanger Subtank coils, those also needed 2 tanks to break in but after that they could go on forever.

The only gripe I have with the DTL Pod is the proprietary drip-tip’s diameter is too small for a real DTL draw. It’s a restricted direct lung hit but no DTL, which is a bummer because they thought about making the airflow inlet bigger on this coil, but the drip-tip acts as a bottle neck.

Pros:

  • Looks sleek
  • 3 Power Modes
  • Good flavor on the Mesh coil after break-in
  • Wife likes it (that may not be a pro for you)
  • Coil Life is fantastic
  • The PTF is really mess-free filling

Cons:

  • DTL pod is hindered by the drip-tip
  • Battery Life is on the lower side

Summary:

I’m genuinely impressed by the size of the PodStick, Vaporesso did a great job. At first I thought the battery must be out after 3 puffs but they managed to squeeze a respectable 900mAh in there, at least they list it as such. I have no way to test this but from the feel it’s closer to 800mAh but I may be tinfoil hatting here, it charges in around half an hour from dead to full. The Flavor on both pods is good, the mesh coil needs time to break in but I can live with that if the coil life is as stellar as it was with this one. The MTL is really nice and I think the size will appeal to every MTL vaper because it’s so very stealthy. I talked to Vaporesso about the DTL Drip-tip diameter and they told me they’ll forward the info to their engineers. If they address this would be really cool and make this a potential winner not only for the MTL users but for us DTL Vapers that want a mess-free setup for on the go.

There’s not many cons I can list with this one, besides that it’s so friggin tiny, you might just lose it and don’t even realize until it’s gone. Good Job by Vaporesso for making a really tiny pod system that works surprisingly well!

The Vaporesso PodStick is available on FastTech for 20$, which is a good deal in my opinion for a reliable tiny Pod System, as always, if you’re interested, here’s the Link:

Double Review – Geekvape Aegis 100W & Aegis Mini Kit

Size comparison

Hello, today I present you a double Review: Geekvape Aegis 100W 1.5 year in & Geekvape Aegis Solo Kit Review

I bought the OG Aegis in September 2017 from FastTech because I wanted it, it was the first of many Aegis mods and the first water-, shock- and dustproof mod. I live close to a lake and am often out paddling so the buy was a no brainer, for 44€ on fasttech, it was a pretty good deal.

Also, I won the Geekvape Aegis Solo Kit in a Geekvape Giveaway on ECR. Thanks to Geekvape for the Kit!

100w: I don’t think the Aegis line needs a long introduction. I won’t tell you a whole lot about looks apart from that I got the Gunmetal version which has a camouflage leather insert on the back. I love the looks of every Aegis rendition besides the Legend.

Solo: Geekvape was so kind to send me the blue version of the Aegis Solo kit. Mainly because it’s the wife’s favorite color but also because I dig the blue myself. The Aegis Solo is just like its big brother, sleek. The black leather back is shiny and pairs well with the bright blue panels. The Cerberus tank looks… well like a Subohm Tank with a serious beer problem, 25mm at the base and 27mm diameter of the bubble glass. Yes, it fit’s the baseplate of the Aegis Solo but the combination looks kind of top-heavy imho. The tank has a blue o-ring above the bubble glass which is color accent to match the mod.

Thoughts/Experience:

100w: The waterproof claim was put to test a year ago here, when it was submerged in a drybag that didn’t live up to it’s name, my smartphone died in the process.  It was also dropped from a second-floor balcony into lawn, while a traitor friend tried to stop smoking and his drunk ass dropped it. A rugged mod it really is.

Obviously, going with 26650 batteries was a questionable choice by Geekvape, even in 2017, 26650’s couldn’t really deliver the power they should have had for their size. I wasn’t perfectly satisfied with the experience with the Aegis until I found a post on ECR by some good soul, god bless him, that informed me that Geekvape had released a 21700 battery cap for the Aegis 100w. I instantly ordered it and it made a good Mod, to a perfect one, with a Samsung 40T in there I can go all day and still have 10% battery life left. Big props to Geekvape for releasing that cap to make an already released Mod more useful.

Another fact about the 100w that I love is that the USB slot is hidden under the top plate, to get to it one has to remove two torx screws and the top plate, as well as a rubber plug which makes it waterproof. That alone is enough to protect the USB port from all the “internal charging” people, and thus increases the mods longevity by a lot.

Solo: It is indeed waterproof… Yes, I submerged it in the sink for a few minutes and it didn’t really bother. This rendition is not really any shorter than the OG Aegis, but it’s all around size has shrunk to fit an 18650 and boy, it’s small. And lightweight, I think especially the feminine vapers will be fans of that. I can’t recall how many times my wife said “yes but it’s too big/heavy” about one mod or the other. I never heard her say it about this one.

Damages: (100w)

Some minor scratches on the Display, nothing too bad, it really can take a beating.

Repairs: (100w)

None Thankfully

Usage:

100w: I used this mod for nearly two years now, on and off, and it has never failed me once. It feels nice in the hand, the leather as well as the rubber sides. The fire button is clicky and the mod fires very fast, to the point that you can’t turn it off without heating your coil at least a tiny bit while doing the 5 clicks. The Menu is self-explanatory, three clicks to get into “highlight mode” then navigate to the parameter you want to change and click to select. The TC works pretty well on this one actually. I used a myriad of SS coils on it by now and I just upped the TCR from 91 to 95 to work well enough for me.

Solo: I used the Aegis Solo Kit for a little over a month now and I am still impressed by the power it puts out for its size. The power diminishes rather fast if you vape on 50w or more though, depending on the battery. I used mostly VTC5A’s in it which gave me the best experience, I also used VTC6 and 30Q’s when using it as a stealthy MTL vape with a Rose V3. You really have to carry extra batteries with this one, at least, if you want to go all day. The build quality on this one is great, as expected from Geekvape. The Screen is bright enough and the TC worked out of the box kind of. Thanks to u/Anthony_Vapes for pointing out the best TCR in his review of the Aegis Solo. I also love the battery cap design, as I did with the OG Aegis. What I don’t like is that the USB is open for charging but that’s kind of personal preference.

Cerberus:

Now for the Cerberus Tank, I really tried to like it, please believe me.

I’m not here to trash things. But the first coil on it was a dud that burnt out on the first hit after priming it, filling the tank and letting it sit for the short period of 24 (yep) hours. The second one was okay-ish I guess, I put 100ml of liquid through it by now and it’s still good. But I DIY my juice and it’s rather clean and not very sweet. The flavor was severely lacking though, very dry and overall just not a nice experience. I mean its vapor and it delivers nicotine, but I pumped the power up to 50w when 40w is the recommended maximum and the flavor was still lacking. And I know mesh coils, I own 2 profile RDA’s and a unity. While those are not the flavor monsters per-se they beat the experience, I had with the Cerberus by a mile. I tried a lot of juices and it really seemed to struggle with wicking when over 85% VG too.

And while a Cerberus usually comes with three heads, if my memory serves correct, mine only came with two so I couldn’t test a third one.

Marvec Skeleton King Kong Mechanical Mod – Review

Authentic Marvec Skeleton King Kong Hybrid Mechanical Mod

Hello dear reader, today I present you my review of the Marvec Skeleton King Kong Hybrid Mechanical Mod

I bought this mod in June 2018 because I wanted a brass tube for a long time. It cost just shy of 30 dollars with code MAP on FastTech and still does to this day, although the product pictures picture it as polished, it really isn’t. Scroll along to find out the whole story.

This time around and still alive, the Marvec Skeleton King Kong Mechanical Tube Mod

!!This is a fully mechanical mod without any protections, be sure to know your ohm’s law and battery safety!! I don’t recommend a total beginner to start out with mech mods, I didn’t because I like my hands and face where they are. Please be safe people!

Package Contents:

· The Tube itself

· 18650 Battery Sleeve

· Plastic Tube with Atty stand

· o-ring

Appearance:

The Marvec Skeleton King Kong is one of those designs you can either love or hate, but I’m not sure if there is a place in between those two stances. It’s a brass tube with a lot of engravings going on, they are fairly well done and I dig the pattern and the skulls. The engraved parts are finished with a glossy black which gives a nice contrast and brings out the shapes very well. The Marvec engraving on the top is well done too, on the opposite side of it one finds the serial number, mine being 0438. The tube is a little different from your standard tube as you take off the top part to insert a battery. On the inside of this top part, right under the venting slots, there’s even more engravings… but those are also my first con of this tube. The engraving goes all the way around and says *Compatible with 18650 20700 2100*

I mean, it’s great that it takes three different types of batteries and it being compatible with 21700s was one of the selling points for me. BUT, why do I have to see this every friggin time I use the Mod? I have no clue whatsoever. It’s not visible if you use 18650’s but with 21700’s and 20700’s it sure is annoying. The name is a bit questionable too… Skeleton King would have been fitting with the skull theme, but why on earth is this “Kong” there? Please someone enlighten me because I don’t get it.

Thoughts/Experience:

It’s a fairly comfortable tube to hold and fire, the engraved body gives a good grip so there is no way this can slip down through your hand like some of the smoother tubes á la Vindicator.

The fire button is something I haven’t seen on another tube before. Two silver plated stainless-steel blocks that are held together by two rubber o-rings (you get one separate o-ring with, in case one gives up) are sitting below a vertically placed wedge with the tip pointing down. Pushing down pushes the blocks I wish the blocks were just a tiny bit smaller so the throw wouldn’t be so long. But other than that, I have no complaints, the button is easy to maintain and fires well, if you don’t mind a slightly longer throw.

As you can see in the pictures, I let the brass outside form a bit of patina, the tube came clean but matte brass. I’m not sure why the product pictures show a polished brass when it isn’t but thankfully I love patina so it’s not a big deal to me, still worth mentioning though but this one is on the vendor, or at least I think it is.

Damages:

Nope, not one in the year I used it.

Repairs:

None Thankfully

Usage: The Skeleton King Kong is a hybrid tube, so be sure to only use Atomizers with a 510 pin that is protruding enough to safely make a connection. The threads are buttery smooth when clean and no battery rattle is happening in either direction. The 18650 sleeve fills the empty space around the battery enough to prevent any rattling too so well done there. But to be completely honest, I only used it with an 18650 once for testing purposes when I got it and it works fine. I have a lot of 30T’s laying around and recently bought a pair of Molicel P42A’s so there is just no need to.

My extremely in-depth scientific testing (me vaping…) could … this time, detect a tiny bit of voltage drop, but nothing out of the ordinary. The button design is bound to have a little bit more voltage drop than the one in my reference tube, the Vindicator. But it’s not bad, I currently use the Conspiracy RDA on it with a 0.16 build made from u/badazd’s wonderful Flatwire and it’s a lovely vape.

Pros:

  • 21700’s
  • Nice Engravings
  • Cheap af
  • Easy to clean and maintain

Cons:

  • The engraved compatibility Message
  • Super Nitpick – The Name

Album

Summary:

Besides some small quirks here and there design wise, this is a solid mech tube for a low price that has no deal breaking disadvantages over some higher priced competitors. I like what Marvec has done here, two thumbs up and I’d love to get my hands on more of their mechanical Mods.

This one withstood the test of time flawlessly, granted that’s easier for a mech to begin with. Would I buy it again? Yes probably!

Thunderhead Creations Thunderstorm BF Mechanical Squonk – Review

I want to highlight products, that still work after being used for over a year. Most of my mods and attys get used and abused extensively, if they last longer than a year, it’s already impressive. My wife as well as my closest friends, whom I proudly converted from smoking, have permission to use most of my stuff. Which sometimes results in dead mods and beat up stuff. We also have a “community vape cemetary” kind of thing going. I hate obsolete stuff so I think it may be worth to look for older gear, that is cheaper by now, if one knows if it’s worth it. The products I review are worth it in my opinion, otherwise I wouldn’t review them. Yet, that won’t stop me from calling out the cons of each product in the slightest.

This time around and still alive, the Thunderhead Creations Thunderstorm BF Mechanical Squonk.

Post image

!!This is a fully mechanical mod without any protections, be sure to know your ohm’s law and battery safety!! I don’t recommend a total beginner to start out with mech mods, I didn’t because I like my hands and face where they are. Be safe people!

**Package contents:**

  • The Mod itself (duh)
  • 1 Thunderstorm BF RDA
  • 18650 Adapter Tube
  • 8ml Silicone Bottle
  • Spare screws for the RDA
  • Manual & Warranty Card

Appearance:

The Thunderstorm squonker body is made of black PPS, which is a highly thermal resistant plastic with a kind of cristallized texture. It has a very nice glossy yet grippy finish, that I have not seen on other mods yet. The lockable square shaped button is made of Aluminium. It’s ergonomically shaped and the button and squonk door are on the same side, so you can squonk with your ringfinger and index fire, or just do both with your thumb. It has a THC Logo on the top, I mean, I like thc as much as the next guy, but I don’t need it on the top of my squonk so I sanded that off and repainted that small section in matte black. The “THUNDERSTORM” (why ALLCAPS? Idk…) on the squonk door is unintrusive and was allowed to stay.

Both doors fit perfectly without any gaps or rattle, they are held on by 4 small magnets on each door sides and snap into place with a somehow satisfying click.

Thoughts/Experience:

This thing is BIG, for a single battery squonker at least, I like the size because I have big hands but it’s certainly not the most pocketable squonker on the market. If I want to use an 18650 I’ll take the Arctic Dolphin Crea, because that fits in my shirt pocket. This thing is made for 21700’s and that’s how I use it, with a Samsung 30T or 40T, depending on atomizer and build. Jeff texted, he is a happy camper.

The THC Thunderstorm has been my daily beater for my early shifts and has been dropped in and out of my truck countless times. It was lost and drowned in a puddle for an hour and other horrendous things that don’t need ever get public, but it’s still going strong. Also, thanks to the material I guess, it isn’t even scratched, but see for yourself in the album. That’s the beauty of mech mods in general but this one is exceptionally tough.

Damages

The contacts are your standard silver-plated copper, only copper for me since the silver wore off, that’s the most damage it has.

Repairs:

None, I clean it once in a while.

Usage:

  1. Screw your favorite squonk RDA on it, if unsure check for shorts first on a regulated mod.
  2. Press button.
  3. Profit? I mean, delicious vapor is being produced.

For real, it’s a full mech and my extremely in-depth scientific testing (me vaping…) could not detect any really noticeable voltage drop. It hits ever so slighty lower than my vindicator with a fresh battery, which is my best hitting mech mod right now. Battery goes in positive down, which is a good thing in a worst case scenario, the + and – markings are still perfectly visible The button is lockable by sliding it up, it is recessed into the body so the risk of misfiring is very minor, even if unlocked. The locking feature works reliably and not once did it come loose by itself.

The 8ml squonk bottle is a very nice silicone, not too flimsy but soft enough, the squonk tube was not cut at an angle so I did that. The tube above the bottle is about 3-4mm long, so no room for wiggly tubes which is a good thing in my book. It squonks very generous so be aware of that.

I switch between dual and single coil RDA’S, the following things sit on my Thunderstorm regularly: Mjölnir, C4, Profile, Mad Dog v2 (underrated RDA), Vital and occasionally a Pulse 22. The 510 is spring loaded and a little over 25mm wide. The mod itself on the side where the atty sits is 28.5mm so you could technically use a 28mm RDA on it, should you? I’ll leave that up to you.

Post image

i should clean it again…

Pros:

  • 21700’s
  • Lockable Fire Button
  • Indestructible
  • Hits good
  • Looks nice

Cons:

  • Big for a single battery squonker
  • Relatively heavy for a single battery squonker

So that’s about it for the mod, I won’t link to any vendors because since you found reddit you can find google, but wait…Wasn’t there something else in the box, or was it a bag? Who knows, that was last year after all…

It was a box, and in it was, the THC Thunderstorm RDA. To cite IPDN *sigh*.

It’s an Atomizer with a bf pin, 2 posts for dual coil with the screw coming in from the top through the post. Like a Kennedy but without the middle post and with side airflow slits big enough to suck a small bird though.

Where I live, we have a saying: “If you don’t have to say anything positive about somebody, don’t say anything”. I’ll use this saying for that atomizer.

If I forgot anything don’t hesitate to ask, I’m not a seasoned reviewer and open for critic. Thank you for reading and have a wonderful day! See you next time when another survivor will surface.

Arctic Dolphin Crea Mechanical Squonk – Review

Hello, today I want to present my review of the Arctic Dolphin Crea Mechanical Squonk.

it’s a nice looking squonker!

For clarification:
I bought this mod in June 2018 on FastTech because I wanted it. For a laughable price of 18€, yes, you read that right.

Most of my mods and attys get used and abused extensively, if they last longer than a year, it’s already impressive. My wife as well as my closest friends, whom I proudly converted from smoking, have permission to use most of my stuff. Which sometimes results in dead mods and beat up devices. We also have a “community vape cemetary” kind of thing going. I hate obsolete stuff so I think it may be worth to look for older gear, that is cheaper by now, if one knows if it’s worth it. I’ll do my best to give you my unbiased opinion.

Again, I want to highlight a product, that still works after being used for over a year.

**Package contents:**

  • The Mod itself (duh)
  • 1 Crea BF RDA
  • 7ml squishy Silicone Bottle
  • Warranty & Warning Card

Appearance:

I have the black and white one, there’s also black, blue and orange but some are hard to get by now. The Crea is made out of white ABS, the doors are matte black Polycarbonate. It’s rectangular shaped and the button is on the front, while the squonk door is on the right side. Squonking and thumb firing is not possible for the right handed. Not a problem for me since I’m used to firing after squonking like pavlov’s dog afraid of dry hits.

Both doors fit perfectly without any gaps or rattle, they are held on by 2 big ass magnets on per door and will not move anywhere without human intervention. The 510 plate is 20mm wide, the whole Mod is only 25mm in width and barely higher than an 18650 battery, measuring 81.5mm in height.

Thoughts/Experience:

This thing is tiny, seriously so tiny, it can vanish in my shirt pocket so well, not even the atty on it is visible from outside. The 510 is not spring loaded so you have to adjust it with a flathead screwdriver before using your desired atomizer. Polarity does not matter with this one so I use it positive down just in case. The Crea is 18650 only, I love 21700’s and their battery life. But for this mod, it’s good as it is. The size makes it, so I can hit it really stealthy without anything but my big hand being visible. It’s very lightweight too which lead to a lot of drops out of aforementioned shirt pocket before I got used to it. Thankfully, I have a PC top cap on the Hadeon, which thrones on the Crea most of the time.

Damages

Dents and scratches on the bottom side where it landed.

Repairs:

I take the button apart every five months or so, it’s secured with a washer from the inside.

Everything can be taken apart, but be aware, since the mod is so small, it’s finnicky to get back together if you have big or not steady hands which I both do.

The contacts inside are silver plated but the button itself tends to get arcing marks and needs cleaning, thankfully, it tells you when it wants cleaning because the button gets warm. Or hot if you refuse to clean.

Usage:

My extremely in-depth scientific testing (me vaping…) could not detect any really noticeable voltage drop. That can change when the button needs cleaning again… It hits the same as my broadside tube with a fresh VTC5a which is impressive for this lightweight mod. The round fire button is made of SS (I think) with a nice ring texture giving a good grip and a brass ring around it. It is lockable, turn it clockwise to lock it, counterclockwise to unlock. Not once has it accidentally fired on me, not even unlocked. I still feel safer with the clicky one of the Thunderstorm, if you happened to read my last review.

The 7ml squonk bottle is a very soft silicone, one has to be careful if not using a Mjölnir RDA. I would have liked a touch stiffer but I’m rotating squonk bottles anyway so it’s not a big deal for me.

Album

Pros:

  • It’s tiny
  • So lightweight, you forget it’s there
  • Lockable Fire Button
  • Hits good
  • Looks nice

Cons:

  • Button needs cleaning now and then
  • Prone to losing since so small and lightweight…
